Promoting the effective use of Tekla Structures in academic projects is a key focus of KONIA’s support for its partnership with MienTay Construction University.
Project 1: Lê Thành appartment
Nguyễn Hồng Đạt – Class XD20D05, MienTay Construction University, year 2020. Loa Thanh Encouragement Prize 2024 – “Civil and Industrial Construction” Panel.
Nguyen Hong Dat successfully implemented Building Information Modeling (BIM) in his graduation project, “Le Thanh Apartment Building” (19 storeys, 1 basement level) in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. Utilizing Tekla Structures software, Dat created detailed models of the concrete structure, reinforcement, and formwork, while also conducting clash detection to ensure accuracy and consistency. Leveraging Tekla Structures data, quantity take-off and cost estimation were streamlined, and the design of floor slabs and the structural frame was optimized. The building features a core and shear wall system for enhanced stability. Dat analyzed and compared various foundation options, concluding that pre-stressed spun concrete piles were the optimal solution.
Overcoming the challenges of learning Tekla Structures, Dat completed an outstanding project that demonstrates the effectiveness of BIM in the construction industry. This application enhances design quality, saves time and costs for the Le Thanh Apartment project, and meets technical and aesthetic requirements. The project also marks the student’s first steps in utilizing BIM technology, contributing to the industrialization and modernization of Vietnam.
Project 2: Gò Sao appartment
Phạm Thái Lộc – Class XD20D07, MienTay Construction University, year 2020. Loa Thanh Encouragement Prize 2024 – “Civil and Industrial Construction” Panel.
The Go Sao Apartment project, a landmark 17-storey building (1,147m2 floor area) in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, utilizes a monolithic shear wall structural system, optimizing space while ensuring safety and stability. A key feature of the project is the implementation of advanced BIM technology, including Tekla Structures software, integrating the entire process from design and modeling to construction.
Tekla Structures facilitates the creation of detailed, highly accurate 3D models for the shear wall system, foundation, and reinforcement, minimizing errors. Its 4D planning capabilities enable progress simulation and optimized material management.
Conducted by Pham Thai Loc, the Go Sao project exemplifies the effective application of modern technology to meet high-quality construction standards. Through this project, the student gained an understanding of the crucial role of technology in the industry, optimizing both design and construction processes.
